Drawing on a menu of forty-eight competencies, you learn how to describe jobs and successful candidates. Most of the seminar time is spent on questioning techniques and role-play. Pointers are also provided on how to keep your interviews legally compliant and probe for technical competencies. Participants practice these techniques, then learn how to make the best hiring decision.
The full day interviewing skill training program combines easily understood concepts with easy-to-apply techniques in the following five modules:
1. Interviewing Concepts
Identify behavioral competencies, and learn to conduct selection interviews using behavior based competency interviewing.
2. Defining the Job and Candidate
Use a menu of competencies to develop a specific Job/Candidate Profile that focuses on essential functions and the corporate culture of your company.
3. Interview Procedures
Relax the candidate and keep your questions legal and compliant. Practice taking notes, and listen for evidence of competencies while the instructor conducts an interview to communicate the interview model.
4. Interview Questions
Assess competencies in candidates using a variety of questioning techniques, and develop your own set of questions. Apply what has been learned by participating in role playing while receiving feedback. Hundreds of examples of probing questions are provided.
5. Making the Decision
Code your notes and create a candidate Balance Sheet that equips you with information to make the right hiring decision based on fit with a Job/Candidate Profile.
This behavior based interviewing training seminar is available in full-day, half-day, online, or shorter formats delivered on-site at your location. All sessions include one year access to online behavioral interviewing support tools and job aids.
