Leadership Essentials: Leverage Strengths to Create Influence and Results

Description:
Leadership Essentials is an advanced leadership workshop building on basic managerial competencies - such as those developed in Management Essentials.

This hands-on, interactive leadership workshop introduces participants to advanced leadership strategies and leadership tactics.  It provides practical leadership tools for effective leadership.

3 Core Leadership Modules:
The leadership workshop includes three main modules:

  1. Understanding Yourself and Others – Temperament theory and practice. Explore the 4 working styles / temperaments and determine your own personal “best-fit.” Once you understand what makes you tick (and what ticks you off), learn to “de-code” other personality types and develop your own toolkit of understanding and techniques to work productively inside and outside of your team.

  2. Mapping the Team – Graphing your team’s unique strengths and vulnerabilities. We’ll illustrate and map the workgroup’s composition to understand team dynamics and uncover ways to more effectively work together. Learn to harness the team’s natural strengths to drive performance and productivity.

  3. Go-Forward Plan – The capstone of this leadership experience is the development of a personal plan for your own continued development and a plan specific to your team based on your new understanding of the strengths and challenges of your team.

5 Elective Leadership Modules:
In addition to the 3 core leadership modules listed above, you and your team also may select from 2 of 5 the elective modules listed below:

  1. Coaching for Superior Performance – Create a personalized approach to regularly deliver both positive and constructive feedback that will resonate and spark performance. Develop a personal toolset that sets fair standards and provides objective, actionable feedback.

  2. Effective Delegation – It’s more than getting someone else to do the things that you don’t want to do. Learn the basic rule to decide if you should do it yourself or ask someone else. Practice delegating, measuring the results, and providing feedback.

  3. Team & Individual Motivation – Some people feel that the phrase “it’s your job, just do it” should be enough to get people to perform. There’s more to creating focus, excitement, and passion about our work however. Learn how to correlate each individual’s core needs to the work at hand to drive lasting success.

  4. Virtual Team Leadership – Influencing others when you have the responsibility, but not the authority can be a challenge. Discover how understanding and responding to the personal motivations and values individuals hold can create an effective virtual team. Develop and practice effective communication and measurement processes.

  5. Leading Change – If change is the only constant, why is it so hard to do? Learn what each of the four temperaments fears most (consciously and unconsciously) about change and how to address them productively. Shape and improvise your strategies for change, as you understand what individuals need in order to embrace change and move forward.

Target Audience:
This course is for leaders, managers, and supervisors who have mastered basic managerial skills.
