Onsite Programs - For Foreign Born Employees
Communication Assessment Profile
In the Customized Communication Assessment and Profile, a language/communication expert meets one-on-one with an employee to thoroughly evaluate that person's communication skills in areas where improvement may be needed. During the meeting, the evaluator uses the assessment tools that seem most appropriate (under Optional Components below). The entire assessment generally takes two to two-and-a-half hours.
Standard Components
- Interview with employee (20 - 60 minutes)
- Completion of information questionnaire by employee
Optional Components
- Pronunciation and intonation diagnosis (15 minutes)
- Grammar tests (25 - 85 minutes)
- Editing exercise (25 minutes)
- Oral presentation (10 minutes)
- Test for comprehension of rapidly spoken English (15 minutes)
- Test for comprehension of complicated instructions (30 minutes)
- Evaluation of writing sample (15 - 30 minutes)
- Written input from or discussion with employee's manager or supervisor
Outcome
Within two weeks after the assessment, the employee will receive a profile report that includes the following information:
- An evaluation of the employee's skills as revealed by the tests
- Recommendations for training in communication skills
- Recommendations for activities the employee can pursue outside of training
Upon request and with the employee's approval, copies of the profile may be sent to the employee's manager and the firm's training department.
