Respectful Workplace: Understanding and Preventing Harassment
A hostile work environment may be illegal, but it also can be a
symptom of a much larger problem  lack of respect in the workplace.
This half-day program begins with the minimum requirements of the
law, and your organization's policy and procedure prohibiting
harassment on the basis of sex, race, age, religion, national
origin, disability and sexual orientation. Going beyond the
minimum, we bring in your organizational values, as well as the
values of the participants, to begin the process of creating a
respectful workplace. There are separate courses for managers
and individual contributors.
The instructors are seasoned attorneys,
experienced trainers and skilled facilitators who use stories and
humor to make this potentially dry topic fun, interesting and
memorable. The program is highly participative with group
interaction, small group case studies, video vignettes,
skill-building exercises, and plenty of time to ask questions.
Participants receive a comprehensive workbook and reference guide
they can use again and again.
Participants learn:
- The causes of harassment
- Why most harassment is unintentional
- The legal definition of harassment
- The organization's harassment policy and
procedure
- How to apply the law and policy to specific
situations
- The manager's duty to prevent harassment
- How to communicate personal boundaries
- How to listen to others with respect
- How to create a respectful workplace
Executives, managers, supervisors, all employees
